A workshop gathering various professionals – specializing in the water supply sector – was held at Adama’s Hill Side Hotel on November 5th, 2021. The workshop, attended by relevant stakeholders from different institutions, aimed to gather comments and suggestions to develop a comprehensive Urban Water Supply Study and Design (UWSSD) Criteria and Manual. Amongst others, attendees included professionals from the Ministry of Water and Energy (MoWE), Regional Water Bureaus, Local Consultants, and MS Consultancy.

The Inception Report Stakeholder Consultation Workshop kicked off with His Excellency Dr. Negash Wagesho’s-State Minister, Ministry of Water and Energy State Minister-welcoming speech and remarks. The State Minister highlighted the importance of the Design Manual as it plays a central role in ensuring a harmonized and standardized National Guideline to address and respond to existing water supply challenges.


Following the State Minister’s opening speech, MoWE’s Senior Water Supply Engineer Ato Belay Bancha and the project Team Leader Mrs. Hamere Wondimu took the floor to present, in turn, the Client’s Expectations and the contents of the Inception Report, respectively.

Overall, shareholders acknowledged the Consultant for delivering an exhaustive Inception Report stressing that its approach and methodology were good. Moreover, the participants raised several comments and suggestions deemed necessary to produce a quality document. The Consultant stated that it will consolidate and give responses to issues raised during the one-day workshop in the upcoming days.
