A delegation from the German Embassy, KfW Development Bank and GIZ recently visited the Kebribeyah (Qabribayax) Town Water Supply Project in Ethiopia’s Somali Region to review progress on the ongoing works. During the visit, the delegation also met with the Mayor of Kebribeyah and representatives of the regional water sector.

The Kebribeyah project forms part of the wider Regional Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Programme for Refugees, Internally Displaced Persons and Host Communities in East Africa (R-WASH). The programme is implemented by UNICEF and UNHCR, with support from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) through KfW Development Bank, and aims to establish reliable, affordable and climate-resilient water and sanitation services for displacement-affected and host communities.

Kebribeyah is one of the Ethiopian locations where the R-WASH model is being implemented, together with Aw Barre and Sheder in the Somali Region. Investments under the programme include resilient water infrastructure and strengthening local water utilities to support the long-term sustainability of services. In June 2026, UNHCR highlighted an upgraded water reservoir in Kebribeyah as part of the KfW-supported R-WASH programme.

MS Consultancy PLC is serving as the engineering consultant for the Kebribeyah Town Water Supply Project, providing consultancy services in support of the development and improvement of the town’s water supply system. The project represents an important contribution toward strengthening sustainable water-service delivery for Kebribeyah and surrounding communities.

The recent visit provided an opportunity for development partners and local stakeholders to review progress on site and engage on the continued implementation of the project.

MS Consultancy PLC is proud to contribute its technical expertise to this important development and to the broader effort to deliver sustainable and climate-resilient water infrastructure in Ethiopia’s Somali Region.
