MS Consultancy has commenced work on a citywide inclusive sanitation study for Dilla Town, aimed at supporting the development of a modern, effective, and sustainable wastewater management system.
The assignment supports ongoing efforts to strengthen urban sanitation services in selected towns where improved drinking water supply projects have been completed. Through this study, Dilla Town will take an important step toward addressing existing sanitation challenges and planning for a cleaner, healthier, and more resilient urban environment.
As part of the study process, an awareness-raising session was held with key stakeholders, including representatives from Dilla Town Water Supply and Sewerage Service Enterprise, the Dilla Town Administration, local authorities, and the MS Consultancy study team. The session focused on building a common understanding of the study objectives, the importance of stakeholder participation, and the role of the community in ensuring the successful implementation of the assessment.
During the session, Fiseha Udu, Manager of Dilla Town Water Supply and Sewerage Service Enterprise, highlighted the importance of improving the town’s wastewater management system as the next priority following the completion of its clean water supply project. Aklilu Hordofa, Advisor to the Mayor of Dilla Town Administration, also emphasized the town administration’s commitment to environmental protection, sanitation, and urban beautification.
Representing MS Consultancy, Michael Tesfaye noted that the preparatory work for the study has been completed and emphasized the importance of community and stakeholder cooperation during the upcoming data collection and survey activities.
The study will involve consultations, data collection, and household and institutional surveys to assess the current sanitation situation, identify priority gaps, and develop practical recommendations for improving wastewater management in the town.
MS Consultancy will bring its technical experience in water supply, sanitation, wastewater management, and urban infrastructure planning to support the successful completion of the study.
