Designing the South Omo Bridge was a critical response to the urgent need for efficient transportation of food supplies to the hunger-stricken areas of South Omo. Our assignment focused on the design of a reinforced concrete (RC) bridge structure, taking into consideration factors such as load-bearing capacity and environmental conditions. Beyond the design phase, our responsibilities extended to the preparation of a detailed and priced bill of quantities, ensuring a comprehensive assessment of the resources required for successful implementation. In essence, our goal was not only to construct a physical bridge but to create a resilient and sustainable infrastructure that would address the pressing needs of the local communities in South Omo.
