On July 22, 2024, the Jigjiga Town Water Supply Project Phase 2 was officially inaugurated by SRS President H.E Mustafe Muhumed Omer, marking a significant advancement in the region’s infrastructure development. During this pivotal event, MS Consultancy was honored with a certificate of appreciation by the Somali Regional State Water Bureau for our role in the project. This recognition reflects our dedicated efforts in addressing the long-standing water scarcity issues in Jigjiga City, the vibrant capital of the Somali Regional State.

For decades, Jigjiga has grappled with a water supply system that has struggled to keep pace with its rapid growth and increased demand. The city’s original infrastructure, dating back to the 1970s, was in desperate need of an overhaul. The Jigjiga Town Water Supply Project, initiated to revamp and expand this existing system, has been a crucial step towards sustainable water management within the region.

The project embarked on its ambitious second phase in 2017 with a major focus on the development of the Fafam well field. Despite facing setbacks that led to a halt in 2018, our team remained dedicated to significantly enhancing the town’s water supply capacity. This involved integrating advanced groundwater systems from the Fafam well field, located about 35 km southwest of Jigjiga.

In 2021, MS Consultancy took on a pivotal role, providing comprehensive supervision and contract administration services to ensure the careful execution of the project’s extensive components. Our efforts have successfully navigated the project through its complex phases, leading to a substantial enhancement of the water supply infrastructure. Today, Jigjiga residents enjoy a more reliable and sufficient water service, marking a significant improvement in their quality of life.

The recognition from the Somali Regional State Water Bureau is not only a testament to our team’s hard work and technical expertise but also a reminder of the collaborative spirit required to tackle such essential projects. It underscores our ongoing commitment to enhancing community resources and supports our mission of promoting sustainable development.

We are thankful for this recognition and remain motivated to continue our work in improving infrastructure and services that contribute positively to communities like Jigjiga. We look forward to fostering existing partnerships and embracing new opportunities to make meaningful contributions to the region.
