On February 24th, 2022, a consultative workshop on the Detailed Design Report of Harar’s CWIS project was held at Intercontinental Luxury Hotel. Various stakeholders from different institutions took part in this one-day workshop.
The Project Coordinator initiated the workshop by welcoming all participants and expressing gratitude to the Consultant for its hard work leading to the production of the Detailed Design Report. MS Consultancy Deputy Director took the floor to briefly elaborate on the proposed project objectives, the scope of work, and component descriptions. Moreover, he cited the multiple challenges, including land-related issues, that the Consultant had faced during the preparation of the Report. The workshop schedule divided the day into two segments consisting of (1) a series of presentations and (2) a discussion panel.
The Consultant gave three consecutive detailed presentations on the Engineering, Environmental, and Social Impact Assessment, and Business Plan Reports. Following these presentations, stakeholders applauded the Consultant for achieving this significant milestone. They then took turns to raise questions, ask clarifications, and state their concern. Issues raised during the workshop were well-documented to update the Draft Detailed Design Report.
The workshop ended with the following remark: As one of Ethiopia’s pioneer CWIS projects, this proposed development project must serve as an exemplary project for future sanitation-related projects.
